You guys, it’s here! It’s finally here! My first official Wonder Bunch dream has come true: we have an animated theme song. When Alex and I first started thinking about the Wonder Bunch world and what it would look like, we had no idea what any of it would actually become. But that didn’t matter to me. From the very beginning, I knew we needed a theme song.
When I think of what I loved to watch on television as a child, what I recall almost immediately are the songs. For me, it all started with the Sesame Street gang singing: “Sunny day, sweeping the clouds away… Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street?” or Mr. Rogers sweetly singing to us all: “It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor. Would you be mine? Could you be mine? Won’t you be my neighbor?” So, I had to ask myself: what theme song and video would capture the entire Wonder Bunch experience in just 30 seconds – and endure for years to come? Now, I had never written a song before, but music is a huge part of my life and our family’s life. And one day the words and ideas for the theme song just started to hit me. I knew exactly what we needed to say. So I sat down and wrote the words to the song.
Then I worked with our incredibly talented composer and our voice actor to fine tune the song’s structure and get the instruments and singing just right. The Wonder Bunch kids’ voices each come to life in their own distinct way, and when they sing these words together, it feels the way we wanted it to: “Come join the Wonder Bunch. We’re so glad you’re here with us!” Next, we needed to tackle the illustration and animation.
The challenge became picking and choosing which animals and parts of the Wonder Bunch world to show. Thanks to our artists, it’s all so fun and beautiful to look at. Well, in the end I think we came up with the perfect combination. Watch here to find out for yourself! I sincerely hope you and your kids love this theme song and video as much as we do. And now I dream that one day the Wonder Bunch world and this song will be a special part of your kids’ childhood. A part that they will so fondly remember for years to come and look back on with a smile on their face and joy in their hearts.
